| you'll have opportunity to "buy it back" from the insurance company for < a grand. Since the suspension took the bulk of the impact, the rest of the car survived quite well....even your J spec tails and ground effects. For the difference of around 5 or 6 grand from the insurance settlement, you can buy a new quarter panel (or used section cheap), buy a new (or used) rear cover, and replace the crushed upper control arms (or rear end). Put the rest into some great new mods.* You don't have to settle on the insurance company's lowball offer....do some homework. They will need to find "replacement value" and unless you think that your car was that "worthless", don't be so quick to "give" it and your rights away. Keep in mind; just because the insurance company "refuses" to acknowlege your loss, the lady still remains responsible for damages. This lady shouldn't have been on the road along with many others who are a peril to our public streets. Someday this "entitled" group of seasoned citizens will rob the younger generation blind. Don't be a legal wimp. There is opportunity for redress in small claims court....and I doubt she's flat broke. To make you feel better, pick out the nicest rental car the "enemy" insurance company will pay for while they get their act together. *posted by one also ASE certified as an "auto frame tech" .....who welded countless totalled cars back together to pay for college.
